Nick Trogrlic-Iverson, Gonzaga
Nick Trogrlic-Iversonhad a phenomenal outing against Loyola Marymount going seven full innings and not allowing a run. Another West Coast style of arm opposite LMU’s Codie Paiva, he pitched to his strengths and used a strong mix throughout his outing. For the most part, Trogrlic-Iverson possesses a conventional motion. His hands stay low until separation and he has a quick arm with a high three-quarters arm slot. For most of the game he sat at 89-90 mph with his fastball and there isn’t much action to the pitch. His changeup and his slider are his bread-and-butter offerings, missing a lot of bats with his heavy three-pitch mix.

The off-speed sits around 76-79 mph and is a plus pitch when thrown with conviction. It’s a straight change and his arm action and split velocity between it and his fastball are impressive. His slider was working throughout his outing as it’s primarily used as a kill pitch. When left anywhere over the heart of the plate it becomes an absolute beach ball, but when thrown down and away to righties it has sharp bite and a 10-to-4 shape. It felt as though Trogrlic-Iverson kept feeding off the momentum he was gaining as the zeros kept piling up on the board. Even by the end of his seven innings pitched the LMU hitters still didn’t really have a plan at the plate against him.
