I have continually surprised parents over the last two-plus decades when I tell them that high school statistics are irrelevant for virtually every player from a scouting perspective. They don’t reflect whether the tools exist to play at the next level and there is no context of the quality of competition they were accumulated in.

Besides, I usually say, if you are good enough to be thinking of playing at the next level, your performance should be good.

There are two exceptions to that statistical irrelevance rule for high school players in my mind.
