Best Showcase Ever – 2004 Perfect Game National Showcase

The Perfect Game National Showcase will be held June 18-20 in St Petersburg, FL. The event will return to Tropicana Field (home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays). The Domed MLB Stadium is an ideal site for this prestigious event. This will be the third time the PG National was held at Tropicana Field.

This year’s PG National might be the greatest showcase ever because of the large number of top ranked prospects who will be in attendance. As of this date, 42 of the top 50 ranked 05’s in the country have confirmed they will be at Tropicana Field. It is possible that 49 of the top 50 will be there. The 42 who have committed early are listed below with their national ranking.

80 of the top 100 ranked prospects and nearly 150 of the top 200 prospects will be at this year’s PG National. Also attending will be some top free agent prospects from Latin America including two of the very best pitchers from the Dominican Republic. T

he PG National has had 26 of it’s players drafted in the first round in the past two drafts. And this year’s National is by far the most talented of all the PG Nationals and that’s because the 2005 high school class is loaded!

Once again, we believe this year’s Perfect Game National Showcase will have more talent, top to bottom, than any showcase ever held. Even more than the 2001 and 2002 PG Nationals held at Tropicana Field. Some of the top two round picks to come out of those events include, Chris Lubanski (PA), Ryan Harvey (FL), John Danks (TX), Ian Stewart (CA), Lastings Milledge (FL), Jeff Allison (MA), Chad Billingsley (OH), Jarrod Saltalamacchia (FL), Adam Jones (CA), Ryan Sweeney (IA), James Houser (FL), Jeff Flaig (CA), Paul Bacot (GA), BJ Upton (VA), Prince Fielder (FL), Chris Gruler (CA), Clint Everts (TX), Scott Moore (CA), Scott Kazmir (TX), Denard Span (FL), Sergio Santos (CA), Matt Cain (TN), John Mayberry (KS), Matt Whitney (FL), Micah Schilling (LA), Joey Votto (CAN), Corey Shafer (OK), Adam Donachie (FL), Zach Hammes (IA), Robert Andino (FL), Kevin Jepsen (NV), Brian Dopirak (FL), and several others.

For those that might doubt the earlier statements, please look at the short list of players below, who are ranked in the top 50 nationally. There will be more to sign up in the next couple weeks. At some point we will list the entire rosters on this site.

Seating will be roped off at Tropicana, but fans are welcome to attend. There is no charge at the gate. Scout packages will be available for scouts and college recruiters wishing to purchase one. It is not necessary to purchase a scout packet to get in.
