It’s that time of the year when playoffs begin in the southern states and the teams that have flown under the radar by putting together nice seasons often pop up in upsets. Four teams in last weeks top fifteen were upset in their respective playoff runs and shook up the top of the rankings just a bit. The Florida 3A pitted two teams in the top 50 with Orangewood Christian defeating The First Academy 5-3 on their ascent up to number 29. Gainesville (Ga.) opened the season as the top team in the country and after some early season hiccups, they seem to have found their footing, climbing back into the top 10.

The rankings could potentially experience another big shake up next week as the California playoffs are set to begin. There are also two playoff matchups on the East Coast this upcoming week that pit two ranked teams against one another. In Florida, No. 4 Coral Springs Christian Academy squares off against fast rising No. 36 North Florida Christian. The Peach State will provide a No. 38 Milton against No. 39 Kennesaw Mountain matchup, a team who has taken care of business in the first two rounds by sweeping both series.

Laredo Alexander (Texas) took the biggest leap going from unranked to 32 overall after compiling a 24-2 regular season and have cruised through the playoffs to this point, currently awaiting the third round to start.

Other new additions this week include: No. 39 Kennesaw Mountain (Ga.), No. 41 Long Beach Wilson (Calif.), No. 43 Lee’s Summit West (Mo.), No. 44 Bishop Eustace (N.J.), No. 45 Callahan (Texas), No. 46 Walsh Jesuit (Ohio), No. 49 Hart (Calif.)
