Sneak Peek Perfect Game's Top 10

Here’s a peek at the PG Top 10 – 2003s as of Nov 1, 2002.

Sorry, we can’t give out more, but we have a contractual agreement with Baseball America and Prospects Plus.

Lastings Milledge continues to hold onto the #1 spot, but there is plenty of competition from all those in the top 10. Milledge is a 5 plus tool type without much projection. He showed well in Jupiter, but we’ve seen him much better.

Delmon Young missed the big Jupiter World Championship for the first time in three years, but we’ve seen him often enough. He has plus power, plus arm, even plus speed and he is a big strong outfielder. Could easily be ranked #1.

Jared Hughes has jumped up to #3 in the country on our list. He showed mid 90s velocity and at 6’6/220 he’s a real intimidator on the hill. Hughes was named the top prospect in Jupiter. Some scouts think he is #1.

Chris Lubanski comes in at #4, but there are those that think he should be #1. Probably the fastest high school player in the country, he can hit and projects off the charts. He played very well in Jupiter for the All Star Academy out of PA.

Jeff Allison at #5 is yet another one who could easily be ranked #1 and may end up in that spot. He is one of the best pitchers to come out of the northeast in a long time. He threw well in Jupiter, but his midseason mid 90s velocity was down just a bit.

Ryan Harvey is #6. He has all the tools and a great body that projects. Some say he should be #1. He played well all fall including in Jupiter, but injured his knee at the Diamond Club Classic. He will be out for quite awhile.

Ryan Sweeney jumped up a few spots and with his MVP performance in Jupiter, his stock is very high, maybe even #1. Possible 1st round pick as both a pitcher and as an outfielder. He was a very easy MVP of the Jupiter Championship.

Jeff Manship wasn’t able to pitch in Jupiter this year, but we saw enough at the WWBA Summer Championship to rank him right near the top. 93 heater and the best breaking ball in the country. Could he end up #1?

Jay Sborz is one of the nation’s hardest throwing power pitchers. If he improves his breaking ball by next June, he could also be the #1 ranked player before the draft. He looked good and in the mid 90s at Jupiter.

Chad Billingsley is another of the nations hardest throwers. We have seen him mid 90s many times. He was 91-93 in Jupiter, but his breaking ball was outstanding. He jumps back into the top 10 and could be even higher, perhaps #1.

All these players and many others on our list deserve their high rankings. They have all proven their ability over a long period of time. Many of the PG top 500 will move around and be changed before the draft, including these players. And there are always some new prospects that pop up over the winter and spring. Each year, a few of these late-finds end up going very early in the draft.

All 10 of the following players could easily become the top ranked high school prospect by the time the draft rolls around. In fact there are many others in the complete PG rankings that have a chance to end up on top.
