Pitching Prospects Impressive This Spring

Reports are coming in from PG associates from coast to coast. It would take forever to report on all the top rated prospects, but here's a few interesting early season notes. We will be following up with much more later on.

Texas:

PG #1 rated Scott Kazmir (Cy Falls, Houston, TX) has looked good so far. He's been consistently in the 90s, touching mid 90s. Kazmir teams with Cy Falls', Clint Evert PG's #27 ranked prospect, to form one of the nations best One-Two punches.

The talk in Texas has been the early season performance of Mark McCormick (Clear Creek, TX), PG's #4 ranked prospect. McCormick has wowed the scouts with an ever improving breaking ball and 95 to 97 velocity on his heater. One of our guys had him topping out at 98 mph! And another scout tells us he would rank him #1 in the nation right now.

We have been hearing that LHP James Loney (Elkins, Houston, TX) has stepped it up a notch this spring and is really impressing the scouts. We have early spring reports on about 30 good draft prospects from Texas. Texas is absolutely loaded this year!

Out West:

Chris Gruler (Liberty, Brentwood, CA) PG's #13 prospect has been showing mid 90's velocity early on.

Adam Elliott (Clayton Valley, Concord, CA) PG's #25 prospect has been impressive as well.

We've been getting great reports on Kevin Jepsen ( Bishop Monauge, Sparks, NV) PG's #24 prospect has been reaching mid 90s with great life.

Southeast:

Jason Neighborgall (Riverside, Durham, NC) PG's #5 prospect. has been up as high as 96 this spring.

Christian Madson (Bloomindale, Valrico, FL has impressed scouts with consistent 90+ velocity.

Watch for Zach Greinke (Apopka, Orlando, FL) PG #38 to increase his value as more scouts see him pitch.

Perhaps the pitcher who has raised his stock more than anyone is Patrick Clayton (Walton, Marietta, GA) Clayton, PG's #19 prospect, is fast becoming an early pick possibility. He joins several other potential early picks from Georgia that include OF Jeff Francoeur PG #6, RHP Friedel Pinkston PG #15, RHP/3B Micah Owings PG #16, C Brian McCann PG #21.

We will continue to give periodic reports on both top pitchers and top position players on this site. Much of the nation is just getting started.
