1. Alex Merricks LHP/5'11/175 Oxnard HS Oxnard, CA Merricks is not a big lefty, but with the exception of Scott Kazmir he throws with more velocity than any high school lefty in the nation. His breaking ball is in the upper 70s with some bite, but it's his 91 to 93 mph fastball with some sink, that is the most interesting.

2. Jason Pridie OF/6'1/180 Prescott HS Prescott, AZ Pridie showed a big left-handed bat and some power potential. He's a good athlete and a plus runner with a plus arm.

3. Mark Romanczuk LHP/6'1/178 St Mark's HS Newark, DE Romanczuk wasn't far behind Merricks in Velocity. He threw in the 90 mph range and lived comfortably in the high 80s. His breaking ball is more advanced than Merricks and he has a little more command of his pitches.

4. Tom Wilhelmsen RHP/6'5/185 Tucson HS Tucson, AZ We have been following Wilhelmsen's progress closely. Each time we see him, we see more potential. At 6'5/185 his body looks stronger each time we see him. He throws in the 90-91 area and displayed the makings of a plus breaking ball in Tempe.

5. Tyler Greene SS/6'3/175 St Thomas Aquinas Plantation, FL Greene is one of the nations best tools guys. He runs, throws, fields with the best, but his bat has a ways to go, with wood anyway. The good thing is that it looks like he is one good hitting instructor away from a high draft position. He does have hitting tools.

6. Scott Moore SS/6'2/175 Cypress HS Cypress, CA Moore has one of the prettiest left-hand swings in the country. The results of that swing are very good also. He has a strong arm, good speed and good defensive infield actions. But it's his bat that will create the most interest.

7. Steve Doetsch OF/6'2/185 Northside Christian St Petersburg, FL Doetsch is another one of the nations top tools guys. He has a good baseball body, is a plus runner with a plus arm. He also flashes some power potential, but needs to make some wood bat adjustments in order to be a consistent hitter.

8. Warner Jones SS/5'10/170 Montgomery Bell Nashville, TN Jones is not big, but he plays very large. He has some plus MLB tools that should not be ignored. First of all, he is a plus runner with a plus arm. His bat is a plus tool to us and he even flashes surprising power. He is fully capable of playing any position on the field very well and in fact threw 88-89 from the mound in Tropicana.

9. Eddy Martinez-Esteve OF/6'2/195 Westminster Christian Miami, FL Esteve is fast becoming one of the top hitting prospects in the nation. He hits line drive after line drive all over the field against the best pitching in America. He also has a strong arm, a MLB body and runs MLB average.

10. Billy Hogan SS/6'3/185 Newman Smith HS Carrollton, TX Hogan is a big shortstop with some interesting tools. He can run a little and he can throw in the average to plus range. His #1 tool is his bat and we think he will hit with power. He has the makings of a big league 3rd Baseman if he falls short at short.

11. Javi Socorro OF/5'10/165 Miami Beach HS Miami, FL Socorro is another smaller type with serious tools. A plus runner with a MLB average arm who can really track down fly balls. His bat is not spectacular, but he seems to hit a lot of line drives against top pitching. Every once in awhile he will shock scouts with some power, that doesn't seem possible at his size.

12. Chris Gruler RHP6'2/200 Liberty HS Brentwood, CA We've seen Gruler better in the past and that may have swayed us a bit. At Team One he was mostly 86-89, but we have seen 90+ several times in the past. We think he could end up being a MLB power pitcher.

13. Conor Lalor RHP/6'3/195 Houston HS Germantown, TN Lalor was a pleasant surprise to us. We had heard about his success at the HS level, but hadn't seen him at a major event. In Tempe he was anywhere from 87 to as high as 92. His breaking ball and changeup looked promising. He has a bit of hesitation in his delivery, but he's got a good pitchers body and a strong arm.

14. Steve Kahn RHP/6'2/200 Servite HS Servite, CA Kahn threw in the 90 mph range with pretty good life. His breaking ball was not consistent, but every once in awhile he would flash a good one around 76 mph. His delivery looks good and you have to think he will throw with even more velocity soon.

15. Russell Durfee RHP/6'2/196 Springbrook HS Silver Spring, MD We like Durfee a lot. He is a good athlete who could be a prospect as an outfielder. As a pitcher, he has a very fast arm and throws in the high 80s touching the 90s. Durfee, Kahn, Lalor and Gruler are all very close and about the same size.

16. Scott Lonergan RHP/6'4/190 Poway HS Poway, CA Lonergan is a big roght-hander who we would like to see again. He touched 90 at Tempe, but it looks like he can throw harder. In the first inning his breaking ball was below average. In the second inning it was a sharp, plus pitch.

17. Alexi Hernandez SS/5'11/165 Pace HS Hialeah, FL Hernandez has outstanding shortstop actions and a strong enough arm. He is very smooth and athletic. His only problem is that it seems he tries to be a power hitter. He does flash excellent power potential, but his swing is a long one that will miss a lot of pitches. He does have hitting ability, just needsto make some adjustments.

18. Adam Simon RHP/5'10/160 Bishop Amat HS LaPuente, CA Simon is a small right-hander, perhaps the least favorite type to pro scouts. However, this kid can really throw and has no problem staying in the 90s with very good sinking life. He also shows a plus breaking ball and excellent changeup.

19. Brian Hernandez C/6'0/185 John I Leonard HS Boynton Beach, FL Hernandez is not the MLB tools type everyone covets. What he is, is a solid defensive catcher who can hit. He is one of the nations finest defensive catchers.

20. Brandon Gomes RHP/6'1/175 Fall River HS Fall River, MA Gomes is another not so big right-hander. He shows a high 80s to 90s mph arm and one of the smoothest deliveries you'll see. He has a MLB average breaking ball that should get better with his excellent quick arm action.

The dates and locations for both the 13u and 14u National Showcases have been announced and will bring in most of the top players from across the country to compete against one another.
