COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Pepperdine head coach Steve Rodriguez thought he was in some sort of Michael Wacha-induced time warp the first few innings of his team's road contest against Texas A&M on Friday night.

In what was billed as the nation's premier pitching matchup of the week, the bout between Texas A&M senior right-handed pitcher Kyle Martin and Pepperdine's Scott Frazier seemed like a laugher in the early innings. Martin was clicking on all cylinders, while Frazier was extremely shaky in the first inning, showing iffy command with his secondary offerings, while the Aggies were tattooing his fastball.

The tide eventually turned for the Waves, but at first glance, it might as well have been Wacha, the first-round pick to the St. Louis Cardinals last summer -- not Martin -- out there for the Aggies.
