The Cape Cod League has long been known as a proving ground for draft prospects, a place that can often set the tone for how scouts will view a player heading into the next spring. In Sean Manaea’s case, the Cape and his performance there has lined him up as the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the June draft. Scouts had an idea about Manaea’s power arm entering the summer, but almost no one could have predicted just how high he was able to vault his stock in a matter of a couple months.
