Those gritty Gamecocks are back.

Just five weeks ago, after losing a tough series at home to Florida, some thought South Carolina was in major trouble. After all, it had already lost series to Kentucky and Florida, and its offense was sputtering.

Well, now Kentucky, nor the Gators, are looking so bad. And guess what, the Gamecocks are right back where we thought they'd be before the season -- in the mix for a national seed and potentially the national title.

While the Gamecocks are still giving chase for one of those eight national seeds, they're not alone with LSU, Arizona, Oregon and Cal State Fullerton also in the mix.

In terms of hosting, Stanford and Ole Miss are knocking on the door, while several others also are in the mix.

Meanwhile, the field of 64 bubble is loaded with solid clubs, such as Liberty and Virginia Tech, among others.

With the postseason nearing, we once again take an inside look at those teams vying for national seeds, NCAA Regional hosts and at-large bids, and illustrate what likely needs to happen for them to make the postseason field.

Our coverage leading up to the postseason continues.
