Sometimes is takes a surprise performance to spark a team.

That precisely was the situation with Stanford last week. The Cardinal dropped a midweek bout to San Jose State to start last week, but bounced back over the weekend with a huge home series sweep over Arizona State.

The Cardinal, in a way, have freshman third baseman Alex Blandino to thank for that. Blandino had absolutely an amazing week at the plate, hitting an incredible .563 with four homers and 11 RBIs in four games.

With the series sweep, the Cardinal is right back in the mix for an NCAA Regional host site, and also hasn't let their national seed hopes completely slip away.

Looking back at last week, several teams besides Stanford helped their case and were big-time winners. Meanwhile, Texas A&M, which went 0-4 on the week with losses to Rice and Baylor, was the leading loser, while others also joined the club.

In addition to analyzing this week's winners and losers, we also lay out the five things we learned the most from the weekend.
