Much time separates us from now and the NCAA postseason, but there already are teams putting themselves in delicate situations even before conference play begins.

Vanderbilt and Texas, who both made huge drops in this week's PG College Top 50 rankings, fit that bill. The Longhorns were swept at Stanford over the weekend, while the Commodores dropped a home series to Oregon in disappointing fashion.

LSU was another big dropper, moving from No. 10 to No. 19 following a disappointing home series loss to Appalachian State.

While those three had tough weekends, Arizona State had a successful weekend and moved in the top 10, while Maryland and Oregon moved into the top 25 of the rankings after successful weekends. The Terrapins went 3-0 with wins over Western Carolina, East Carolina and Purdue, while the Ducks took care of business against Vandy.

Teams that dropped out of this week's rankings include St. John's, Missouri, Florida International, Jacksonville and Troy, while teams that entered the rankings include Maryland, Oregon, Southern Mississippi, Gonzaga and Tulane.

The PG Top 50 is released each Monday morning during the college baseball season.
