Due to requests from a number of college coaches, the Perfect Game California Underclass Showcase appears on the PG calendar about two months earlier than usual this year.

Traditionally a mid-January event, the 2011 California Underclass Showcase will be staged Nov. 5-6 at Mt. San Antonio College’s Mazmanian Field in Walnut, Calif., about 25 miles east of Los Angeles.

This is the 9th annual Cal Underclass, and its reputation already proceeds itself. More than 20 Perfect Game All-Americans and 15 first round MLB draft picks call themselves alumni of this event and more than 150 others have been selected in the draft.

Cal Underclass alumni Freddie Freeman (2006, ’04), Addison Reed (’06), Chris Parmelee (‘05) and Bryan Anderson (’03) have reached the big leagues. Freeman is currently a strong contender for the National League Rookie of the Year Award while playing first base for the Atlanta Braves.
