FTB, TB Warriors earn top seeds

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FTB Mizuno and the Tampa Bay Warriors earned the top playoff seeds at the Perfect Game 18u and 17u BCS Finals, respectively, after breezing through two rounds of pool-play games with perfect 6-0 records.

FTB Mizuno went 6-0 in its two rounds of pool-play, outscoring its opponents 42-7 over the last four days. The Warriors also went 6-0, allowing its opponents only five runs in their first six games.

No. 1-seed FTB plays No. 16 seed Florida Pokers White (4-2) in its playoff opener Thursday on Field 2 at 9 a.m. at the Boston Red Sox Player Development 5-Plex, while the top-seeded Warriors play No. 16 South Florida Elite Squad Black (4-2) at the main stadium at Terry Park, also at 9 a.m.

Next Level Baseball (6-0), East Cobb Braves 18u (5-0-1) and Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico (5-1) round out the top-four seeds in the 18u BCS Finals. The top-four seeds in the 17u BCS Finals include the Warriors, No. 2 Marucci Elite (6-0), No. 3 Texas Sun Devils (6-0) and No. 4 All-American Prospects 17u (5-0-1).

The playoffs begin Thursday in both tournaments, with 17u first-round and quarterfinal games scheduled to be played at Terry Park and 18u first-round games scheduled for the Boston Red Sox Player Development 5-plex.

All semifinal and both championship games are slated to be played at City of Palms Park on Friday. The 18u semifinals should begin at 9 a.m. with the championship game at 2 p.m. The 17u semis are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. , with the title tilt slated for a 4:30 p.m. first-pitch.
