2008 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase

RHP Colby Sims (2010/Mandarin HS, Jacksonville, FL): Sims was an easy choice as the top prospect, as the 6-2, 180 lb right hander threw a steady 88-90 mph from a sound delivery. His curveball has a tight hard spin and big bite in the low 70’s and Sims already shows the ability to pitch to spots and work the strike zone. He would have also been a likely top prospect list member solely as a hard hitting athletic third baseman.

SS Jake Watson (2010/Charlotte (NC) Christian School): Watson stood out as both the best defensive infielder at the event and the most well rounded hitter. His big time arm strength overshadows his smooth, balanced actions defensively and he has power in his left handed bat, especially to left centerfield.

OF Dylan Brown (2010/Smithfield-Selma HS, Clayton, NC): Brown was the best outfielder at the event, with excellent range in centerfie
