Arizona High School Notebook

Jack Lafflam, RHP, Brophy Prep (AZ)

Lafflam has drawn considerable draft interest out in the desert this spring and proved why yet again with a strong start this week. The righthander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and ended the day with 10 total strikeouts. Lafflam features an uber-projectable build at 6-foot-6, 175-pounds that hints at a high ceiling profile. A loose operation works down the mound with ease. The fastball simply overpowered hitters throughout the outing. The offering worked up to 97 mph early on, sitting 92-95 mph throughout a majority of the day. The pitch jumps out of the hand and has cut action that makes it nearly impossible to barrel. Lafflam racked up whiffs with the offering at an extremely high rate. A firm slider at 81-83 mph is thrown off the heater. The pitch has sharp bite and features spin rates ~2600 rpm when spun well. Continu
