Frame/Delivery/Arm Action

Worley is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-hander with a more lean frame and slender build. He’s got some length throughout, and there’s room to keep adding to the frame moving forward. From the wind-up, he starts with a mostly squared start and a sidestep into the leg lift. He’ll vary the sidestep to get some hesitation in the delivery, playing with opposing hitters. He lifts the leg up around the belt, slightly above, with some coil to the delivery. He moves well down the slope and gets some push from the back leg, though it's a very smooth & fluid delivery. He has a longer arm action through the back with a full takeaway. He comes through a three-quarters arm action with some extension and a loose arm circle. There’s arm speed here, and with a good hip-turn over the rubber, he’s able to keep things in line and in sync for a really quality operation. From the stretch, it's a similar move downhill with some more pace & tempo to his delivery.

Arsenal/Pitch Mix

Worley’s fastball took a jump in 2024, getting up to 93 mph and establishing him as more of a low-90s right-hander. The fastball usually works in that 89-93 mph range, spinning in the 22-2400 RPM range and gets good ride and run to it, projecting for some more velocity as well. The big piece of the puzzle for Worley is the slider. It’s an elite pitch and arguably could be the best prep slider in the class from a metrics & shape standpoint. The pitch works the low- to mid-80s, spinning above 3,100 RPMs with up to 18” of sweep. It gets good tilt & the sweep allows him to command that outer half of the plate and even off the plate, hunting the swing & miss. He also has a changeup in the mix, which is another quality offering. The changeup is up above 80 mph with a good arm-side fade to it. It's another pitch he can control, killing spin on the pitch to give him three true offerings and it's one of the better arsenals in the class, giving him a lot to like that will draw attention from pro organizations.

Abilities/Traits To Like

The main draw here is going to be that nasty slider but the fastball has taken strides, giving him a 1-2 punch to attack hitters with ease. The changeup rounds out the full mix and his ability to command all three pitches gives him a lot to like. The delivery is very fluid and smooth, which is also going to check some boxes for decision-makers. He’s currently parked at No. 114 on the PG Draft Board (initial update), but I’d expect him to climb up as the spring gets underway.

“The Buzz”

Worley proved plenty as last summer ended and the fall got underway. He was able to come out on the PG circuit and show his three-pitch mix, working that 89-93 mph band on the fastball — consistently. Pair that with a loud outing at PG National; Worley had a good year from start to finish, proving why he is the No. 1 ranked right-handed pitcher in Georgia and the No. 23 ranked right-handed pitcher in the country. Worley threw 19.0 innings of 1-run ball on the circuit, walking just 11 while striking out 26 opposing hitters. He held the opposition to a sub-.150 average. He will garner draft interest and his 2024 year on the circuit gave him a good base to work up from during his senior year spring.

Summation

Looking ahead in 2025, it could be a big deal for Worley. He’s an uber-projectable right-hander who has a good track record on the circuit. The pitch mix is high-quality and above average within the class, which will draw interest from pro organizations. While he’s outside the Top 100 on the initial PG Draft Board, this spring could be a chance for him to cement himself as an early pick, keeping him in that Top 3-round conversation. Worley has a high-level profile and plenty of traits that make him attractive to pro organizations.
