WWBA World Champ. Scout Notes: Days 4-5

Kyler Peterson      Jason Phillips      Tyler Henninger      Craig Cozart      Cameron McElwaney
Conor Essenburg (’25, IL) got the starting nod on the mound for the Cincinnati Reds Scout Team and his physical 6-2/200 presence stood out. The lefty is committed to Kansas State and showed flashes of what is to come with a quality 3-pitch repertoire. Working from a high-3/4 arm angle his fastball cruised in the low-90s, grabbing as high as 94 mph, showing ride and at times run. His mid-70s slider showed two-plane shape and missed barrels with hitters from both sides of the plate. His changeup profiles as a plus offering long-term and will complement the heater nicely. Essenburg’s delivery is low-effort, and you would imagine his stuff would continue to trend upward.
