James Van Der Post (2029, Round Hill, Va.) was dominant on the mound for Top Dawg Ghost. He went three shutout innings spreading one hit and three walks with five strikeouts. The right-handed pitcher works from an around-the-belt leg kick with a medium length, in-line stride down the mound. Medium length takeaway through the back with a whippy high three- quarter arm slot. Live arm and repeated the mechanics well. The fastball was 70-78 and played well up in the strike zone, holding plane well. Tunneled an 11-5 shaped curveball with bigger vertical depth and some feel to manipulate the shape to it. Showed good feel for the breaker and the ability to locate it around the zone to get swing and miss on the pitch. Some effort at release with more velocity in the tank as the athletic, lean 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame continues to mature and fill out. Also showed a ton of upside in the box
