Teams are dusting their cleats off as the winter weather slowly turns into spring, they made their way to St. Joseph, Missouri for the last of the Griffon Indoor tournament of the year. The beauty of the indoor season is to see where they are at as a unit, to gear up for the upcoming outdoor season. Although softball is best played on dirt, these athletes do not let the turf get in the way of their ultimate goal, victory! The Galaxy Elite 18U-Duckworth came to play, winning 4 of 4 games in the single-day competition. The Elite had 27 runs scored, with only 2 runs allowed. Finishing behind The Duckworth was the Nebraska Echoes, 16U Madsen, with 3 wins and 1 tie, they scored 12 runs and allowed 4.

Ellie Nolte (2024 Farnhamville, IA) is a talented middle infielder, she plays 2nd base, shortstop, and 3rd base. She is a fundamentally sound fielder. She showed off at the plate, the right-handed junior stands slightly pigeon-toed and does a great job of engaging her legs to generate power as she extends through the zone with balance. She went .429 throughout 4 games, with 1 home run, which was a rocket shot to left-center field; and she had one double. Her bat path is straight to the ball and has a quick bat.

Mckinna Johnk (2025 Omaha, NE) is a 5’9 catcher whose presence behind the plate is quiet but not unnoticed, she does such a great job of leading her teammates and her pitcher. Her length and athletic build are beneficial to her position behind the plate. She frames and sticks the pitches she’s receiving well. She is constantly calling the plays out to her team, keeping them accountable and ready for the ever-changing and fast pace of high-level softball. At the plate, she had one triple and one run scored.

Emma Eekhoff (2025 Pella, IA) from the Eastern Iowa Barracudas-Gold, the right-handed pitcher, and first baseman stands at 6 feet tall! She had a curveball, a fastball, and a screwball that were all working for strikeouts pitching in the upper 50s. She had 6 strikeouts in 3 innings, 1 walk with 2 hits allowed. Offensively, she went 2 for 4.

Kelsie Hearne (2026 Davenport, IA) utility player for the Eastern Iowa Barracudas-Gold is a stand-out softball player in my humble opinion. She particularly shines behind the plate. I was so impressed by the 14-year-olds ability to have such solid skills as a catcher. I kept thinking to myself “she is making her pitcher look so good,” being a former catcher sometimes we go unseen, but I saw how hard Kelsie was working. She is very smooth in her movements, quietly shifting to get the ball in the center of her body to get more called strikes. She does a wonderful job of sticking the strikes and keeping the ball toward the plate.

2026 PG Softball Twin Cities Elite Scouting Showcase September 19th, 2026 Ashley Mears BLAINE, MN- Rain may have shortened the weekend but it didn’t shorten the competition. The tournament was STACKED with some of the top teams from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The 16u division came down to Midwest Speed 16U Nat’l Chell taking home the trophy and shutting out a tough MN Sting National-Makela team. The 18U division came down to Midwest Speed 18u Nat’l Koltes loaded team out slugging Mission 18u National. 16U Taitum Kostecka (2028 Princeton, MN) of Midwest Speed 16U Nat’l Chell was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year. ZT National Prospects Hold Out to Win 2026 WWBA Sophomore Championship In a game that kept everyone guessing until the very end, the ZT National Prospects won the 2026 WWBA Sophomore Championship over Wow Factor/Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team 8-7. Over the past few days of the tournament, the usually cruel southwest Florida weather had been unusually kind - but the warmth of the sun had still taken energy out of both championship teams. They had finished hard-fought semifinal matches before walking from the backfields of JetBlue Park to the big-league stadium. WWBA Sophomore Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 Lukas Klipper (2029, Clearwater, Fla.) was electric at the plate, collecting six hits, highlighted by a monstrous home run off the batter's eye in his second game. High-level left-handed hitter with a really easy swing and functional actions. Klipper lived on the barrel throughout the game and showed off his run-producing ability in huge situations. WWBA Sophomore Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 Ronin McCrea (2029, San Diego, Calif.) had an all-around performance at the plate, going two-for-two with two singles, two runs scored, and three RBIs. The right-handed hitter displayed a short, compact swing with a direct and efficient path to the baseball. McCrea showed excellent barrel control throughout the game, consistently producing hard line-drive contact to all parts of the field. Jayson Blanco (2029, Homestead, Fla.) was dominant on the mound, tossing a five-inning no-hitter while striking out six. The right-handed pitcher worked down the mound efficiently with a smooth, fluid delivery that helped him consistently attack the strike zone. WWBA Sophomore Scout Notes: Day 1 Rhys Jones (2029, Mc Lean, Va.) was absolutely dominant on the bump to start off day 2 hanging an impressive 10 strikeouts in 5 innings. Running the heater up to 84 with arm side run and the breaking ball got swings and misses. The strike percentage stayed right over 55%, and he carried a no hitter into the 6th. Easy arm action with a high 3/4 slot and controls the move down the rubber. Jevan McMenamy (2029, Fargo, N.D.) was all around solid today tallying two hits, an rbi, and a walk.
