Greg Golson was taken in the first round of the 2004 draft by Philadelphia and signed for $1,475,000. Lance Broadway was picked in the first round in 2005 by the White Sox and got $1,570,000. Kyle McCulloch was plucked in the first round in 2006 by the White Sox and received $1,050,000.

All three of those guys improved their stock as high school baseball players by performing at the popular South Showcases in Texas before striking it rich.

The annual South Top and Underclass Showcases will be held in McKinney, Texas, again this year at the Ballfields at Craig Ranch on Aug. 14-15. This will be the 10th year for the South Top Showcase and the eighth year for the South Underclass Showcase, and both are going strong.

The South Top Showcase is for high school players who will graduate in 2011. The South Underclass Showcase is aimed at high school players who will graduate in 2012 and 2013. You may request an invitation to either showcase right now.

To request an invitation, simply return to the Home Page for www.PerfectGame.org and click on Showcases in the upper left-hand corner. Scroll to the appropriate showcase (either South Top or South Underclass) and click on Request an Invite. It’s that easy.

McKinney, Texas, is located near Dallas-Fort Worth, and naturally the South Showcases have been popular with Texans, but these events on the Perfect Game circuit have drawn players from 25 states and Venezuela. Players have flocked to the Showcases from throughout the South and Southwest, but also from Montana, California, Massachusetts, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Washington and New York.

South Showcase graduates have signed Division I scholarships with some of the top college programs throughout the Big 12 Conference, SEC, Pac-10, ACC, Big Ten, Missouri Valley and Notre Dame. And on top of that, South Showcase products have been drafted by all 30 major league teams.

As we said before, Who’s Next?
