WWBA Round Robin Scout Notes: Day 1

Heath Andrews (2023, Fincastle, Va.) came in from the bullpen for the South Charlotte Panthers and brought absolutely electric stuff with him to the mound. A very athletic right-hander, listed at 6-foot-3, is high waisted and projectable with his lean frame and easy delivery. His arm action is long and fluid in the back before creating a blur of hand speed to release point. He coordinates his upper body and lower body mechanics well, which allows him to display a nice three-pitch mix.  Going 3 innings on only 34 pitches, the NC State commit allowed just 2 hits, no runs, 1 walk, while striking out 3. He worked off his fastball that showed explosive life, especially up in the zone and it sat in the 88-90 mph range tonight. He tunneled his slider well with the fastball and it showed late, tight break and consistent barrel missing profile as it sat in the upper-70s. In his last inning of work, Andrews also added in a workable changeup, that looks like it will be a nice weapon to add in against left-handed hitters and give him a different dimension a second time through the lineup. There is more in the tank for this prospect and as he matures physically you can expect his stuff to continue to become more dominating in the coming months.
