13u World Series Scout Notes: Days 1-2
CJ Sampson (2026, Magnolia, Texas) got the start on the mound for Texas Twelve on day two, which we detailed in the prior recap, but today we look at what he did both with the bat and behind the dish where the skills were on display. While it’s been a relatively quiet offensive performance thus far, Sampson was able to put one of the more impressive swings on the ball throughout the day, going back side on a left on left to split the left-center field gap. The young Texan starts with his weight fully on his front side, utilizing a short shift back before letting his hands go to work as he did, generating some lift while driving a triple the other way. He’s relatively quiet behind the plate with his receiving skills, moving around well with athleticism and sticking pitches out front, though it was his catch-and-throw skills down to second base that stood out, showing true carry and a quick release to get a would-be theft early in the game.
