2024 Prep Class Rankings Risers: Hitters

Aiden Harris (2024 Midlothian, VA) has an ultra-projectable 6-foot-3 frame with a high waist and a build that will be able to carry good strength as he matures. The tools are loud with the biggest draw being the right-handed bat. He hit .423 in 2020 and hit nearly every major stop on the showcase tour. His 1.303 OPS is just the start of his monster power potential that already allows him to hit for power to all fields. He also touched 86 mph on the mound and struck out twenty-four hitters in fifteen-plus innings. The ceiling is very high.

George Wolkow (2024 Downers Grove, IL) is big, 6-foot-6, and athletic as he ran a 7.17 in the sixty yard dash. He has monster power potential but shows good feel for the stick already. He hit .346 on the circuit and played against older competition at times. He is just repetitions and strength away from tapping into his full offensive potential, from the left side. There is plenty of upside on the mound as well with a fastball that has touched 88 mph and has obvious plane to it.



Manuelle Marin (2024 Hialeah, FL) makes things look natural on the diamond. He has good actions at short stop with instincts and range. The arm already shows plenty of carry and he will have no issues staying on the left side. Starting with his strong defensive profile is not saying he doesn’t have plenty of potential with the bat as he hit .500 on the summer with a huge 1.451 OPS in his 90 plate appearances. He looks like one of the more well-rounded short stops in the early looks at the ’24 class.


Slade Caldwell (2024 Jonesboro, AR) is not the biggest in stature but has some of the best raw bat speed, from the left side, that one will see out of a fourteen-year-old. He is compact with some strength in the wrists and the bat flies through the zone with deadly accuracy. He hit .483 on the summer with sixteen extra base hits. Caldwell also drew a walk almost every four plate appearances that helped his huge 1.574 OPS.

Nolan Traeger (2024 Spring, TX) showed consistent high-level catch and throw ability behind the plate with a strong arm and accuracy to the bases. He also has good mobility in the hips and it helps his receiving skills as he can shift and time a pitch to frame. The left-handed stick helps the current and future profile as he already shows good feel for the barrel, hitting .417 in 2020 with a 1.083 OPS.

Dylan Fien (2024 Murrieta, CA) is a physical, 6-foot-2 and 183 pounds, switch hitting catcher that has good ability on both sides of the ball. His run producing profile was on display this Fall, and he steadily displayed ability to hit for average and power. The body and swing from both sides have big projection remaining.


Ben Reiland (2024 Villa Park, CA) is an advanced California short stop that uses his quick feet and agility to cover a ton of dirt to steal hits. He has a top of the order profile as he can spray line drives to all parts of the field and then disrupt on the base paths. Reiland is a winner.

Casan Evans (2024 Houston, TX) is a shifty defender in the middle of the diamond with lots of life to his 6-foot-1 frame. His shiftiness and hip fluidity standout, as well as his big arm. The bat plays now as he hit .333 on the year and even showed some thump at times. He can also make a huge jump on the mound as the shoulder is quick and he has already bumped 89 mph with flashes of swing and miss secondary stuff.

Mason Brassfield (2024 Bakersfield, CA) this could go either way as Brassfield’s great 6-foot-3 frame fills out. The outfielder can cover some ground and he should only get faster as he adds strength. There is plenty of whip to the left-handed stroke and he already produces loft when timed and extended out front. On the mound he has a loose arm action and a fastball that peaks in the mid-80s from the left side. The off speed needs to develop but with his athleticism there is no reason that it won't.


Thomas Bly (2024 Tampa, FL) just hits, and does so with power pretty regularly. His .400 average and 1.085 OPS are pretty impressive as he has not filled out his 6-foot-3 frame hardly at all. He connected on four homers in 2020 and had no issues with a wood bat. Bly has the ability to stay at third base as he continues to work on his footwork and build repetitions.

Carson Messina (2024 Summerville, SC) another 2-way type prospect that could go either way. He should get every chance to keep swinging, however, as he has a mature approach that showcases good timing with his short right-handed swing. He hit .343 in 2020 and seems to have very good pitch recognition skills. Messina competes hard on the mound as well with the makings of a power slider to go along with his fastball that peaks in the upper-80s. He struck out over a batter per innings pitched and flaunted solid control.

Owen Paino (2024 Poughkeepsie, NY) could pop big at the plate when his long limbed 6-foot-3 frame fills out. He already gets on plane early and has plenty of length through the zone. The left-handed stroke is smooth and easy with some current strength in the hands. He has a gap to gap approach with doubles power for now. But it is a matter of time before he starts lifting the ball out of the yard. There is plenty of potential on the mound too as he controls a three-pitch mix that features a fastball up to 85 mph.

Sam Erickson (2024 Hudson, WI) raked during his appearances at Perfect Game events in 2020. Wisconsin has had a ton of success lately when it comes to producing high level bats and Erickson might fall in line as one of the next. He hit .567 with a 1.514 OPS that as produced more extra base hits than singles. He is also quick and aggressive on the base paths, enhancing his value even more.


Matthew Scott II (2024 Spring, TX) is an outrageously athletic outfielder with a 6-foot-4 frame that passes the eye test in a big way. He has an aggressive approach at the plate with whip in the barrel and enormous power potential. He took a big jump forward in his approach and clubbed an extra base hit in every eight at bats. There is no reason Scott shouldn’t keep trending up.

Ariston Veasey (2024 Tyrone, GA) has suave and quick actions behind the plate with lots of arm strength as well. He is already popping 1.90 times in drills and the actions translate to games well too. He has a patient approach and good power potential from the right-handed batters-box. He is very athletic, and his 6-foot frame will be able to easily hold strength as he matures helping him handle catching responsibilities.

Daniel Arambula (2024 Yucaipa, CA) showed big ability to the bat at the 14U National Showcase and did not hit under .400 at any event after that this Fall. He has a sturdy frame with current strength to the build. It allows him to be very simple mechanically while still producing good impact off the bat. He looks like a bat moving forward but he can also run his heater up to 86 mph on the mound, giving him plenty of arm strength to play the left side of the infield.

Dylan Green (2024 Roseville, CA) seems to be a step ahead of everyone on the defensive side of the ball when you watch him play. He is a heady defender, with range and the ability to improvise with his feet and arm from the short stop position. He can also roll the pole a bit as he hit .404 with a 1.170 OPS in 144 plate appearances during 2020. He checks a lot of boxes.


Hunter Carns (2024 Jacksonville, FL) seemed to make adjustments weekly as the showcase circuit moved along. He banged nineteen extra base hits and stole twenty-eight bases to round out a very interesting offensive skill set. He is listed as a primary catcher and has done a nice job of shortening the actions, but he is a very good athlete and brings a ton of defensive versatility.

Caleb Bonemer (2024 Okemos, MI) There is an ease in which the right-handed hitting short stop plays the game. He moves with grace and balance on the dirt and has soft hands and a quick transfer. He also hit .439 with a 1.253 OPS during 2020. He does so with very little extra movement and extreme accuracy with the barrel. He is aggressive and confident on both sides of the ball.

BJ Gibson (2024 Rochelle, GA) comes in the form of 6-foot ball of athleticism and twitch. Gibson produced some of the most steady and easy in game bat speed that was scouted this summer from the ’24 class. The power/run tools are present for his age and he continues to make strides with his approach. This is as fun of a follow as you can draw up for such a young prospect.

Myles Davis (2024 Marion, IA) made a pretty loud statement this Summer and Fall with his right-handed bat. He hit .516 with plenty of thunder as he produced a 1.401 OPS. He is patient and always works counts helping to draw a ton of walks. He has the athleticism, actions, and arm strength to stay on the left side as well. Davis pitches too with a fastball that touches 85 mph, but it’s the bat that stands out right now.

Sean Benjamin (2024 Fernandina Beach, FL) is a polished right-handed hitter that just collects hits at an impressive rate. He had fifty-nine hits during his 2020 campaign and that number will easily keep improving as he adds to his 5-foot-10 frame. He also stole twenty-eight bases and that speed helps him patrol the outfield with excellent range and upside to potentially find a home centerfield.
