Dylan Lesko, RHP, Class of 2022
Commitment: Vanderbilt

Pick any superlative you can think of to positively draw up a young pitching prospect and odds are they apply to Lesko, especially after what he did in 2020. Prior to the cancellation of high school baseball, the No. 2 ranked prospect in 2022 delivered a no-hitter during the PG High School Showdown, foreshadowing the summer to come which was full of dominant performances just as his numbers suggest: 65.1 innings pitched, 102 strikeouts to just 19 walks though his 19 hits allowed is a just as impressive stat. Lesko certainly looks the part as he toes the rubber, standing 6-foot-3, 155 pounds and possesses plenty of athleticism (came up as a primary catcher prior to high school), allowing for the Georgia prep product to repeat his delivery extremely well and in turn pounds the strike zone as well as any in the country. In terms of stuff you’d be hard pressed to find much better as he ran his fastball into the mid-90s throughout the summer while showing a potential plus changeup and a pair of breaking balls, which have proven to be swing-and-miss offerings.

Outlook for the Class: Prior to landing Lesko, Tim Corbin and his staff already held the top ranking in the country with their ’22 class and adding the No. 2 player in the country only cements their status as the best in the country. The addition of Lesko now gives the Commodores the top ranked right-hander and left-hander, joining Florida native Brandon Barriera, further proving Vanderbilt’s success recruiting and landing high-end, talented arms. We looked at the entirety of the class last week when we wrapped up our recruiting class coverage which can be found here as part of an overview of the top ten 2022 classes.
