Jackson Ferris, lhp, Class of 2022
Commitment: Ole Miss

We’re still a year away from the Class of 2022 garnering all the attention, but Ferris has already established himself as one of the tops arms in the country at this time. A long and ultra-projectable 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, the newly minted Rebel already shows the ability to pound the strike zone pitch-to-pitch with a clean, compact arm action that already produces a fastball that routinely runs into the low-90s. While the velocity from the left side stands out for an underclassman, it’s the frequency of which Ferris missing opposing hitter’s bats that truly help make him stand out, generating big extension out front with late, exploding life through the zone. He lands his curveball for strikes regularly, showing 1-7 shape and tight spin, giving the young lefthander a true out pitch though the quality of his fastball is often enough to dominate a lineup.

Outlook for the Class: There’s a clear emphasis on landing high level arms early in the recruiting process for the Ole Miss staff as they’ve already landed seven primary arms, including Ferris, in their class of 11. The trio of Ferris, outfielder Roman Anthony and righthander Bryce Dolby give the Rebels three players ranked within Perfect Game’s Top 100 for 2022 and it won’t come as any surprise if they continue to add prominent pieces from across the country over the next year-plus.
