Northeast World Series Scout Notes: Days 3 & 4

Uncommitted Marcello Mastroianni (2023, Little Silver, NJ) continued what has been a very good summer thus far for him and his PRD East Coast Ghost squad. The deceptive lefthander worked two and a third innings on Day Two of pool play, showcasing the funky delivery we have become accustom to seeing over the past few weeks. Mastroianni uses a high, coiled leg kick to go with lots of arms and legs flying towards the hitter when working down the slope. The fastball worked in the 80-84 range in this relief appearance, topping out at 85 miles per hour and flashing occasional cutting action due to a slight crossbody release. The young 2023 Grad has pretty good feel for his secondary offerings with his curveball better at present, showing quality spin traits for future potential of a true swing-and-miss offering. There is plenty of projection remaining for Mastroianni from both a physical and velocity perspective, it will be interesting to see the progression as the summer continues.
