Coastal World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

Jackson Vantassell (Frederick, MD 2021) is a 6-3 lanky young man with long, loose arms and a really projectable frame. The Radford Commit is a righthanded pitcher playing for the East Coast Royals 16u Prime team. With his frame and quick arm, Vantassell really drives the ball downhill with good extension from his high three-quarter arm slot. He has a go-getter mindset, mixing in tight, sharp sliders that have straight down action. He finished the day pitching five plus with seven strikeouts, topping 87 and sitting mid 80's.

Nick DeLisi (Olney, MD 2022) is playing for the East Coast Royals 16u Prime and is committed to East Carolina. He is a strong, well-built catcher that sets up great and is a perfect target for his pitchers. Delisi also got it done in the batter’s box with his bat. He is very quiet, but is definitely a presence in the box. He has great load on the backside and a quick trigger that explodes with lots of power in his swing. He crushed a ball to the left center wall for a stand up double in his first at bat. Delisi has a great eye at the plate collecting to walks. His ability and tools are a guy that you want to keep your eye on over the next couple of seasons.

Noah Iseman is 6-3, 230 pound righthander that bats from the left side and is playing for the East Coast Royals 16U Prime team who is also committed to attend Radford. He has a very nice and smooth swing from the left side, loads up his back side very well, and drives a ball with good power. Iseman is very patient at the plate and waits for pitches that he can drive, which is why he collected two walks on the day and barreled a shot to right field to score one run. His size and his left handed swing are just a couple of reasons to keep an eye on this young man over the next few seasons.

Avery Thielman (Kalamazoo, MI 2022) playing in his first Perfect Game tournament had quite the showing while playing for the B45 Academy Prospects. The uncommitted infielder, who stands 6-5 and 190 pounds, has a quick bat and a smooth swing. He came up huge for his team in the top of the sixth. In a tight game, he ripped a double to the left center gap scoring two runs, which secured their win. Thielman has great size and the potential to fill out nicely. He finished his day going two-for-three with a double and one RBI.

Sam Davies (Brambleton, VA 2021) is 6-3, 195 pounds, and has a good size frame. He is a righthanded pitcher for the Richmond Braves 17u Platinum’s and will be attending St. Joseph’s. He loads his backside well and drives straight through the catcher with a very long and loose arm action. The ball jumps out of his hand, topping 88 mph and sitting in the mid 80's. Davies has a very projectable body and frame and should fill out nicely over the next season.
