Camden Minacci, rhp, Tampa Jesuit (FL)
The staff ace for the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Minacci is a notable draft prospect and his ability on the pitcher’s mound will be of high importance to Tampa Jesuit’s quest to repeat as state champions in 2020. Last we saw Minacci he was dazzling at the WWBA World Championship and this was a preseason tune up start where he looked very sharp over a two inning outing. The Wake Forest signee has a very projectable 6-foot-4 frame to go along with a high energy and uber-athletic delivery on the bump. He really loads throughout his lower half well and generates explosion through extension down the mound. The athleticism and arm quickness suggests he’s not done climbing in velocity as he was 87-90 mph with good feel to command the fastball to either side of the plate with intent. Both offspeed pitches showed potential as the breaking ball was in the upper-70s with good shape and bite and Minacci has good feel for a changeup as he replicates his arm speed nicely on the pitch. There’s a starter’s profile to project upon and if he starts sitting in the low-90s on a consistent basis there’s definitely potential to be a top round pick come draft time.
