Today we will kick off our annual Fall Notes series as we peak around college baseball to see what we might learn from the 2019 rendition of Fall Ball. This will be the first of seven weekly installments.

Programs covered: Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Arizona State, Arkansas, TCU

Oklahoma

Skip Johnson returns a very experienced position player group that includes seniors at shortstop (Brandon Zaragoza) and catcher (Brady Lindsly). Junior Cade Cavalli has made a big jump in velocity with his fastball touching 99 mph. Cavalli may convert to a “pitcher only” this spring as his combination of athleticism and elite arm strength screams top half of the first round.

A signature of the 2020 Sooners will be elite velocity on the mound and transfer Dane Acker (San Jacinto College, Texas) will add to that parade. Acker brings plus pitchability, a fastball up to 94 mph and a track record of performance at both Rice (freshman year) and San Jac.
