2019 Area Code Games Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Cal Baptist commit and PG National player Kala'i Rosario (2020, Papaikou, Hawaii) won the Area Code Games home run derby and has impressed at the plate all event long. Rosario swings a heavy stick as proven by his home run derby victory. His shot through the right side of the infield on day four clocked in with a 102 mph exit velocity to his oppo side. Rosario has an upright, slightly open stance, and he keeps his barrel just off his shoulder with a short, twitchy wag pre-pitch. Into his load, his hands go back and coil, and he uses a hanging leg kick trigger. His hands work down through the zone well and they stay inside the baseball well. Rosario is still working on understanding his timing with his hanging trigger, but when on time his barrel makes some load noises. Rosario’s future power potential is enormous as it just comes down to homing in on his approach at the plate. He’s taken some really strong cuts in this event and if he can continue to find barrel against quality pitching like he has, scouts are definitely going to take notice.
