East Coast Pro: Day 3 Scout Notes

2019 East Coast Pro: Day 1 Scout Notes | Day 2 Scout Notes

Several Perfect Game All-Americans were on display, as well as many others, on day three of the East Coast Professional Showcase. Late Saturday night, Victor Mederos (2020, Miami, Fla.) took the mound and was extremely loud in his outing, showing power stuff with a consistent ability to miss bats. He’s a physical righthander with wider hips and good strength throughout his frame, and while there’s a significant amount of effort to his operation, the stuff and results were unquestionably good. He ran his fastball up to 96 mph several times, holding 92-95 mph throughout, with good plane to the plate and excellent arm speed, missing bats with the pitch down in the zone. The curveball was the equalizer, thrown in the 80-84 mph range and consistently plus, with hammer depth and excellent, late bite to the pitch, doing an excellent job of both landing it for strikes as well as getting several ugly swings-and-misses off of it. This was a first round look for Mederos, who is committed to Miami.
