2019 East Coast Pro: Day 1 Scout Notes

Another weather delay interrupted day two of the East Coast Professional Showcase in Hoover, Alabama, though not before those in attendance were treated to a tremendous pitcher’s duel over the course of the first three innings of game two of the day.

Timothy Manning (2020, Pompano Beach, Fla.) was exemplary over his three frames on the mound, missing double-digit bats and pounding the zone consistently with a quality three-pitch mix. He’s an athletically-built lefthander with some projection remaining on his frame, and given both the quality of his stuff as well as his pitch-ability and command, he could be in line to be a day one-impact player at Florida, should he get to campus. He worked 88-91 mph with his fastball, pounding the zone with it downhill with plane and to both sides of the plate to go along with solid average life. The curveball is the weapon pitch, thrown in the 76-78 mph range for the most part with excellent deception out of the hand from his high slot, featuring dynamic late bite with plenty of depth. He missed bats consistently with the pitch regardless of who was in the box. The changeup is his third pitch but a quality one nonetheless, thrown in the low-80s with fastball arm speed and some fade to it.
