Jr's Prospects lock in 13u title

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 2019 PG 13u World Series Qualifier carried a great deal of youth talent during the course of the weekend. Jr’s Prospects powered through the final stretch in Monday’s game against the Cannons Baseball Academy American, securing the championship title by a score of 6-4.
A tremendous pitching effort from Prospect’s Jason Bello (2024, Lehigh Acres, Fla.), earned him the win on the mound, allowing seven hits and one walk, striking out two batters in six innings. Jr's Prospects reliever, Joshua Haad (2024, Margate, Fla.), allowed no hits and no walks, striking out one batter in one inning of work.

Leading the way for the Jr’s Prospect’s offense was Nickolas Bermudez (2024, Miami Gardens, Fla.). Bermudez went 1-for-2 with one double and one run scored, hitting .597 through six games. Teammates Sebastian Berrios (2024, Doral, Fla.) and Kevin Gonzalez (2024, Hialeah, Fla.) contributed on the offensive end as well. Berrios went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run scored, and Gonzalez went 1-for-1 with one double and one run scored.

In addition to Bermudez and Berrios, teammates Angel Rodriguez (2014, Miami, Fla.) and Fidel Alviar IV (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) drove in runs for the Prospects.

MV-Pitcher of the 13u division, was earned by Jr’s Prospect’s Fidel Alviar IV. (2024, Lehigh Acres, Fla.) The righthander’s top performance came in his win during the semifinals allowing two hits and three walks, striking out six batters in five innings.

As for Runner-up Cannons Baseball Academy, Mateo Gray (2024, Weston Fal.) led the way for the team’s offense going 2-for-2 in the game, hitting .800 through five games. Teammate, Christian Hamilton (2024, Lauderhill, Fla.) went 1-for-3 with one homerun and one run scored, hitting .347 through six games. Gray and Hamilton each produced RBIs for the team.

Representing the Jr's Prospects, Ruperto Machado (2024, Sunrise, Fla.) pitched for his team allowing five hits and one walk in four innings. 

Despite the loss, Joshua Agriesti’s (2024, Hollywood, Fla.) outstanding offense earned him the 13u World Series Qualifier MVP. Agriesti went 1-for-3 with one double and two runs scored in the championship game, hitting .639 through six games.  

Monday concluded the 6th annual PG 13u World Series Qualifier (Formerly the Southeast Championship).  Combined with a championship title, winning this qualifier earned the Jr's Prospects a paid berth to the 13u Perfect Game World Series this summer in Sanford, Fla., July 12-16.
