501. Yan Contreras, ss, Puerto Rico Baseball Academy
R-R, 6-1/178, San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico
College Commitment: San Jacinto JC

Contreras is an athletic Puerto Rican middle infielder who has a pretty good feel to hit and the tools to be successful at the next level. There’s lots of room to project upon Contreras and there’s going to be a very high ceiling for his power potential with additional development and strength. He impressed at the PG National with a sub-7.00 second 60-yard dash and throwing 91 mph across the infield. Contreras has a wide base of skills and the potential to blossom into a solid player.


502. Cam Wynne, rhp, Johnson County JC (SO)
R-R, 6-6/230, Lincoln, Neb.

One of the highest-upside JUCO players in the country, Wynne missed most of the ’19 season with injury, though he’s recovered now and is on track. When he’s right, can reach the upper-90s with his fastball with ease and can flirt with triple digits, along with two potential bat-missing off-speed pitches in his breaking ball and changeup. He’s risky in that he’s never consistently thrown strikes, but the upside is substantial.


503. Luke Gesell, rhp, UNC-Wilmington
R-R, 6-5/230, High Point, N.C.

Somewhat of a pop-up name in this year’s draft class is former reliever and now proven ace for the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington, Luke Gesell. An athletic and durable righthander with plenty of strength in an ideal 6-foot-5 frame, Gesell is what teams are looking for in terms of a potential professional starter. The righthander had seen some success in his sophomore year out of the bullpen, but it is what he has done this season as a starter that has seen him really flourish. In 12 starts he has posted a 4-4 record with a 2.74 ERA and a 45-to-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He features a three-pitch mix from a clean arm action and low effort delivery. His fastball is lively in the low-90s and his changeup and slider each show solid average.

504. Thomas Farr, rhp, Northwest Florida State JC (SO)
R-R, 6-1/195, Tyrone, Ga.
Previously Drafted: Never Drafted | College Commitment: South Carolina

Another highly-touted JUCO prospect who barely pitched this year due to injury, Farr seems destined for South Carolina at this point, where he’d likely be an impact piece. When healthy, he gets his fastball into the mid-90s with a full complement of off-speed pitches, including a quality changeup and solid breaking ball.


505. Jaxon Williams, 2b, Texas State (JR)
R-R, 5-8/170, Rosenberg, Texas.
Previously Drafted: Never Drafted

A JUCO transfer from Howard College, Williams put together a quality junior season for the Bobcats, slashing .322/.432/.433 with 13 extra-base hits and a 37:28 BB:K. A solid defender up the middle who is likely limited to second base, Williams brings with him good athleticism, a quality approach and excellent contact skills to round out his profile.
