So Cal Panthers take 10u BCS

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Making the furthest trip out of all teams for the 10u BCS National Championship, So Cal Panthers Black forged their way past all its challengers as they had to dig deep to avenge earlier losses in the tournament in the semifinals and in the title game, winning the championship with a 7-2 win over the Gulf Coast Monarchs on Wednesday.

The Panthers kicked off their tournament with two straight wins, but were defeated by the Monarchs 5-3 on Sunday and dropped their second game in a row the following day to the CCBA A’s by the score of 6-2.

The Panthers scored an easy 9-1 win in the quarterfinals over the Jimmy Gonzales Baseball Academy, setting up a rematch with the A’s in the semifinals on Tuesday. Trailing 6-3 and down to their final out in the sixth, the Panthers mounted a final rally that saw Carter Stidman (2025, Temecula, Calif.) drive home the go-ahead run with an RBI single to right field to send his team to the championship game and give them another shot at the Monarchs.

The Monarchs had run the tables in pool play and fought off Legit Baseball Club with a 3-2 victory in their semifinal contest, but they found themselves down quickly in the final as the Panthers put up three runs just four batters in with Michael Hollis (2025, Winchester, Calif.) capping off the scoring with a run-scoring single to right.

The Panthers added another run in the second with William Bandel (2026, Temecula, Calif.) lining an RBI single to center to make it a 4-0 So Cal lead.

The Monarchs got on the board in the fourth with two runs, with Anthony Meady (2026, Cape Coral, Fla.) driving in a run with an RBI single to left and Joesph Contreras (2026, Fort Myers, Fla.) lofting a sacrifice fly to center to cut the margin to 4-2.

The rest of the way, the Monarchs were held in check by Panther starter Diego Ramirez (2026, Downey, Calif.), as the right-hander saw his teammates add on a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth for plenty of cushion to close out the game. Ramirez only needed 58 pitches for his complete-game effort, allowing just three hits while not allowing any free passes.

For the Panthers, Hollis was selected as the tournament’s MV-Player as he batted .421 (7-for-19) with 10 stolen bases and drove in seven runs for the champions.

For the runner-ups, Joesph Lawson (2025, Fort Myers, Fla.) was selected as the MV-Pitcher of the tournament as he appeared in three games and totaled nine strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings, which included 5 1/3 innings and five strikeouts for the Monarchs in their semifinal victory.
