National High School Top 50: April 10

The High School Top 50 remains pretty much the same in terms of the top team in the land, as all of the top 9 from last week retain their spots in the rankings. Valley Christian Schools (Calif.) joins the top 10 at No. 10 and Faith Academy (Ala.) jumps five spots to No. 11 in the country. Six new teams join the rankings and they are as follows: No. 39 Flanagan (Fla.), No. 41 Don Bosco Prep (N.J.), No. 42 Pope (Ga.), No. 44 St. Xavier (Ky.), No. 46 Blanchard (Okla.) and No. 48 Mountain View (Ariz.).

The top 20 has been highlighted by very strong years in both the Texahoma and Southeast regions. Nos. 2 and 3 Lake Travis (Texas) and Argyle (Texas) are both in the midst of strong undefeated seasons in large classifications while San Antonio Reagan (Texas) is at No. 7 and Cypress Ranch (Texas) is at No. 17. The Southeast has been led by two Georgia teams in Blessed Trinity and Parkview at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Faith Academy (Ala.), Zachary (La.) and John Curtis Christian (La.) round out the top 20 for the Southeast and John Curtis turned heads a couple of weeks ago at the NHSI with an impressive run into the final four.

Midwest and Northeast baseball is underway but due to unprecedented cold weather and rain outs some teams like Saline (Mich.) still haven't gotten a chance to play. Don Bosco Prep and St. Xavier are two teams joining the rankings after hot starts to their seasons represented in these regions. We are approaching the final week of regular season play for most of the Florida and Southeast teams, and the rankings are sure to reflect that as state playoffs get underway. Stay tuned to Perfect Game as there's no better time than high school baseball state playoffs.
