JUCO Top 25: March 6 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

For the first time this season there is a new No. 1 team on top of the Junior College Top 25. Actually, this is the first time a new No. 1 team has been named in the rankings since the 2016 season, considering how Chipola went wire-to-wire as the top team last season. Following a series loss to Galveston, San Jacinto relinquished their grasp on the No. 1 spot, and Walters State (Tenn.) was right there to grab it. Checking in right behind Walters State is Southern Nevada at No. 2, while San Jac's slide stops at No. 3. Rounding out the Top 5 are the same teams as last week, only flip-flopped this week, with Central Arizona taking over the No. 4 spot and San Joaquin Delta sliding back one spot to No. 5.

Slots 6-9 remain as they were as all had strong weeks, with Crowder (Mo.), Santa Fe (Fla.), McLennan (Texas) and Wabash Valley (Ill.) all staying the same. Connors State (Okla.) made their Top 10 debut this week as they slid ahead of Chipola for that No. 10 spot.

Notables

• Wabash Valley played a huge series with John A. Logan this past weekend, in what was potentially the early series of the season thus far in the upper Midwest. Wabash Valley took two out of the three, giving them a huge early season series win.

• Another huge series in the Midwest saw Cowley County and Neosho County square off, with Cowley taking three out of the four games. Cowley is on quite the roll over the last few weeks, as they've taken seven of a possible eight games from big-time opponents in Johnson County and Neosho County.

• Crowder made a big statement, sweeping a four-game set from previous No. 21 Jefferson College, and then turning around and winning on Monday against Connors State. They've won some big series' already this season, including against JeffCo and North Iowa Area.

• There are several newcomers to the rankings this week, including perennial NorCal powerhouse Santa Rosa at No. 23, Arizona Western at No. 24 and Saddleback, a SoCal school, at No. 25.

Rankings are based on games through Monday, March 12.
