Weekend Preview |

No teams come in or out of the updated College Top 25 this week as every team, even a few right on the bubble, did just enough to stay ranked for another week. As our scouts confirmed this weekend after watching No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Oregon State play, there may be a bigger divide between those two teams and everyone else, while Stanford, Ole Miss and Clemson continue to make a very strong impression early in the 2018 season.

Two teams that were previously ranked in the top 10 fall into the 20's after rough weeks, at least based on standings. Both North Carolina and Miami lost their weekend series and at least one mid-week contest (North Carolina lost two), although it should be noted that those losses came against very strong teams. North Carolina lost to UNC Wilmington and St. John's before losing two of three to East Carolina while Miami had to square off against the No. 1 team in the nation in Florida after falling to another SEC program, Missouri, earlier in the week. However, all four of those games came at home, and while the Miami hitters took competitive at-bats all week long, the bullpen for the most part hasn't proven as strong as initially expected.

Stanford's pitching staff looks as though it could match up against the No. 1 Gators as they struck out 46 Rice batters in their four-game sweep, allowing just 27 base hits and 13 walks along the way to go along with their usual steady defense and some clutch hitting with quite a few new names stepping up for them during the young season. And in what was expected to be a slug-fest, Clemson out-scored visiting Dallas Baptist 24-to-4 to make a loud statement of their own on both sides of the ball.

Be sure to check out the Perfect Game College Player Database for scouting updates from Florida/Miami and a handful more from Oregon State, Saint Mary's, Arizona State and Ohio State from Arizona.
And don't forget to tune in to Perfect Game College Baseball on Monday nights as Daron Sutton and Mike Rooney will recap all of the week's action from 9-11 p.m. ET on ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM channel 84.
