CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – In its continuing effort to provide far-reaching opportunities to baseball’s youngest teenaged prospects, Perfect Game is pleased to announce the addition of six 14-and-under showcases to its 2018 event schedule.
The two-day showcases will be regional events and will take place on dates from March through May at facilities in six states, reaching from coast-to-coast.
March 10-11: 14u South Showcase, Premier Baseball of Texas, Tomball, Texas.
March 17-18: 14u Southeast Showcase, PG Park South at LakePoint, Emerson, Ga.
April 7-8: 14u West Showcase, MLB Urban Youth Academy, Compton, Calif.
April 21-22: 14u Midwest Showcase, East Side Sports Complex, St. Charles, Ill.
April 28-29: 14u Florida Showcase, Ballpark of The Palm Beaches, West Palm Beach, Fla.
May 5-6: 14u Northeast Showcase, Richmond County Bank Ballpark, Staten Island, N.Y.
“Things have really changed over the last decade when it comes to scouting and college recruiting,” Perfect Game President Jerry Ford said. “Fourteen-year-old players are being identified and colleges are recruiting them more than ever. Major League Baseball’s analytic departments are also tracking the younger players’ information.”
These PG 14u Regional Showcases are open to players from the class of 2022 or are otherwise 14u age-eligible as of May 1, 2018.
Perfect Game’s scouting department will identify the top prospects from each of the six showcases, and will be extended invitations to the PG 14u National Showcase Aug. 4-5 at the jetBlue Player Development Complex in Fort Myers.
Forty players who have participated in 2018 PG events will be selected for the 2018 14u Select Baseball Festival Aug. 30-Sept. 2 in Fort Myers, many of whom will come from the PG 14u National Showcase.
The Select Baseball Festival is a nationally televised event that will be held at the jetBlue Player Development Complex in Fort Myers, Fla., Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2018. After just two years, the Festival has already become a favorite stop for college recruiters and scouts.
“It is exciting to find and evaluate new young talent and to follow those players and see how they develop during their high school careers,” Ford said.
