2016 17u PG Tournament All-American Team

Below is the list of the top 17u players from all of Perfect Game’s 2016 past spring, summer, and fall events that were named to the PG Tournament All-American Team. In the second year of the honor, Gabe Holt made the first team in consecutive years as well as a pair of pitchers – D.L. Hall and Jack Owen – both made teams for the second time. Eight members of the two teams were selected to the PG All-American Classic. Between the 54 players selected to the first and second team, 221 All-Tournament honors were earned.

Outfielder Nolan Tressler led the way with 10 All-Tournament Team mentions and pitchers Hank Flood and Cody Greenhill each earned eight honors apiece. Arizona State commit Boyd Vander Kooi earned a pair of MV-Pitcher awards for performances in the 17u PG World Series as well as the 18u WWBA West Memorial Day Classic.

Seven MVP awards were earned by members of the first team including one by PG All-American Jacob Gonzalez at the 17u PG World Series. Both Gonzalez and Vander Kooi were part of the deeply talented AZ T-Rex Rawling Baseball Club that finished the 2016 season as the No. 1 team in the final 17u Travel Team Rankings.

The East Cobb Baseball organization led all programs with six players between the two teams including Nolan Tressler, Sam Praytor, Thomas Girard, Cody Greenhill, Judson Ward and Tristen Hudson.

Another thing of note, in the last two years, Jack Owen did not allow a run in a combined 52 2/3  innings pitched allowing just 21 hits, four walks while striking out 65 batters. The talented lefthanded pitcher is committed to Auburn.
