High School Player of the Year in Each State

Each year Gatorade names a top player from each state. It is a big honor for those players selected. We took a poll in our main office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa recently to see how close we come to the actual Gatorade list. The Gatorade State winners will be announced soon, so we won’t have long before we can compare.

Gatorade Player of the Year Released (5/29/07)

Here are the rules our staff played by: You can only pick ONE 2007 high school player as the best player in his state. Not necessarily who you think will be the highest draft pick, but who you think will end up being the best player in the future.

Here is how our voting turned out. A big congratulations to the winners, sorry there are no trophies this year, just the honor of being selected by a bunch of baseball people that thought this might be interesting. Some states had several excellent player of the year nominations. Some were very easy selections and were unanimous choices by our staff. And there were some states that were tough coming up with more than one deserving player that our staff was familiar with.

Should be interesting to see how this list of players turns out in the future. We will be comparing it to the Gatorade list and doing a further report on that comparison.

Feel free to talk about it on the PG Messageboard.
