Things certainly got interesting as conference play opened up almost across the entire nation, but it was the SEC that had the most turmoil. Sweeps occurred in six of the seven SEC series, including significant upsets that saw Auburn and Kentucky make huge statements against Florida and Texas A&M respectively. Mizzou continued to extend their impressive win streak and as a result enter the Top 25 for the first time this season. Arkansas also jumps in for the first time after extending their 2017 record to 17-4.

After being swept at home Texas A&M gets knocked out of the rankings after going 0-4 on the week as they also dropped a midweek contest against Texas. The Longhorns also got pushed out of the Top 25 after being swept over the weekend, also at home, against Texas Tech, who surges to fifth in the updated rankings. Baylor, who lost their home series against West Virginia, narrowly avoided being completely removed as well by salvaging Sunday's game and taking a midweek contest against previously ranked Dallas Baptist.

Both Florida State and Florida experienced significant drops in the rankings after sub-par weeks. While both teams still boast a tremendous amount of talent they will need to make a statement in rebounding from 1-4 and 1-3 weekly records respectively.

With FSU stumbling and TCU going 2-2 on the week Oregon State moves up to the second spot in the rankings. Their pitchers combined to twirl two more shutouts in sweeping Arizona State, in Tempe, over the weekend (and won the other game 10-1), while sophomore shortstop Nick Madrigal continues to set the tone at the top of the offense with a .426/.506/.632 triple slash line. Cal State Fullerton and Florida Gulf Coast also continue to make loud statements early in the 2017 season and were rewarded with seven- and five-spot jumps respectively.

Of those also considered Oklahoma was the hardest team to leave out. At 21-3 their record speaks for itself, however, we felt more strongly about the resumes for USF, Missouri and Arkansas. The Sooners will have the opportunity to claim some statement wins this week with four contests on the road: a midweek game against in-state rival Oklahoma State and their first Big 12 series of the season in Waco against Baylor. The weekend after that they host Texas Tech.

St. John's once again receives a hard-luck omission and will spend another week on the outside looking in while UCF and Auburn also were in the conversation for Top 25 inclusion.

Be sure to check out the Perfect Game College Player Database for detailed scouting reports based on first-hand observations from our scouts which includes a detailed report on North Carolina's J.B. Bukauskas, who enjoyed a dominant outing over Georgia Tech on Friday, as well as a handful of players from the Morehead State/Belmont series in Nashville.
