2022 Top Prospects

Ethan Petry  3B - 2022 - Land O Lakes, FL
South Carolina

Petry has one of the most powerful bats in the 2022 class and the South Carolina signee crushed some balls in batting practice. He has great extension in his swing and really does a good job of getting in his slot and staying there through contact.

Luis Rujano  RHP - 2022 - Orlando, FL
South Florida

2021 PG All-American Rujano looks ready for a big spring. He had a very easy and mature outing, filling up the strike zone with a lively 90-93 mph fastball to go with a solid change up and improving slider. His ability to throw strikes with a combination of life and velocity was most impressive.

Zack Stewart  3B - 2022 - Lebanon, MO
Missouri State

Stewart entered the event as the 110th ranked player in the 2022 class and the left handed hitter looked like he'd got stronger and leaner since we last saw him. He has outstanding raw bat speed that showed both in BP and in the games; his line out to centerfield in the game was one of the harder hit balls you'll see for a long time.

Nomar Diaz  C - 2022 - Comerio, PR
Florida Southwestern State College

Diaz really impressed defensively during the games, handling Charlee Soto's plus/plus stuff like a professional with soft quick hands and a calm and quick lower half. He has a short high contact/high average swing at the plate with a very accurate barrel.

John Smith  OF - 2022 - Apollo Beach, FL
Pensacola State

Smith is a live bodied and still projectable outfielder who really swung the bat well in Fort Myers, especially in the games where he rifled some balls to the right centerfield gap. He's a 6.77 runner in the sixty.

Victor Figueroa  1B - 2022 - New Port Richey, FL
Florida Southwestern State College

Figueroa is one seriously strong young man at 6-4/240 and his left handed swing carries that strength well. His best power is to the middle of the field and his long left centerfield double off a 93 mph Charlee Soto fastball was especially impressive. One scout dropped a Rowdy Tellez comparison on him.

Diego Vega  SS - 2022 - AƱasco, PR
Uncommitted

Vega is a live bodied athlete with middle infield tools on defense and lots of right handed bat speed. He turned hard on a couple of pitches in the games for doubles into the left field corner, showing his hand speed and barrel skills very loudly.

Brandon Vazquez  LHP - 2022 - West Palm Beach, FL
Miami-Dade College

Vazquez is an athletic left handed hitter who barreled up almost everything both in batting practice and in the games, working the middle of the field with a repeatable line drive swing. He is a 6.79 runner in the sixty and showed his athleticism well in the outfield.

Osmin Melendez  SS - 2022 - Orlando, FL
Seminole State College of Florida

Melendez is a 2022 with a much young body (6-2/171) and face and really projects well in all areas. He had smooth and fluid actions in the infield on defense, especially charging the ball, and had some jump off his barrel at the plate.

Jordan Brown  OF - 2022 - Margate, FL
Florida A&M

Brown is a very high level athlete, with 6.38 speed in the sixty and a long and loose 6-1/170 build that has lots of room to add strength. He's already going to be a plus player on defense in centerfield and on the bases; how much he can continue to improve at the plate will be key to his development.

William Gumbrell  C - 2022 - Burlington, VT
Santa Rosa Junior College

Gumbrell is one of the better athletes that we've seen from the state of Vermont in many years. A 6-3/195 catcher, he creates nice bat speed at the plate, has a strong arm and good defensive athleticism as a catcher and is going to get better in all areas as he continues to mature physically.

Kelvin Agosto  OF - 2022 - Vega Baja, PR
Trinidad State Junior College

Agosto is an aggressive hitter who really attacks the ball hard at the plate and showed very impressive right handed bat speed during batting practice.

Freddy Oquendo  OF - 2022 - Hialeah, FL
Arizona Western College

Oquendo has the strong lower half that many top hitter's have and used it well to create bat speed with some nice barrel whip. He's a 6.79 runner in the sixty and projects to get better in all areas.

2023 Top Prospects

Charlee Soto  RHP - 2023 - Kissimmee, FL
University of Central Florida

Soto followed up on his big performance at the Main Event Showcase with another loud outing in Fort Myers. The 6-4/190 right hander worked mostly in the 93-96 mph range to go with a low 80's slider and change up, both of which show lots of promise. The former shortstop is one of the highest ceiling arms in the 2023 class.

Alex Valentin  LHP - 2023 - Hollywood, FL
Miami

Valentin really shined during a three-inning outing on the mound, working in the 88-91 mph range and touching 93 with his fastball while also showing a sweeping 74-77 mph breaking ball. He hides the ball very well in his delivery and his fastball played up even at those velocities. He reminds us of 2020 PG All-American lefty Ryan Ginther in his build and overall approach.

Eric Correa  OF - 2023 - Carolina, PR
Rice

Correa looks like a very polished left handed hitter and the Rice commit found nothing but barrels all day while showing some power on his pitch. He had the same type of polished game in the outfield on defense as well and made a tough catch in left field look easy.

Dario Sosa  OF - 2023 - Waterbury, CT
Post

A Connecticut native, Sosa stands out with his 6-3/195 build and solid all around athleticism. He squared the ball up on three hits during the game, including a monster double to left centerfield, and showed his defensive ability both in the outfield and infield.

Michael Oates  C - 2023 - North Weymouth, MA
University of Connecticut

Oats has a very strong and compact 5-7/180 build but very good athleticism to go with it. He has big arm strength behind the plate, registering 82 mph in drills and 87 mph off the mound, and has plenty of strength in his right handed swing.

Free Agents Top Prospects

Yoanis Aleksandrov  C - Free Agents - Sofia, SF BGR

Aleksandrov stands out for his size and strength along with the fact that he hails from Italy. He has big right handed power at the plate when he gets his pitch and is definitely looking to drive the ball hard. Defensively, his pretty athletic for a 6-3/229 catcher and even ran a 6.77 sixty.

Jeter Martinez  RHP - Free Agents - Durango, DU MEX

Along with having a cool first name for a baseball player, Martinez has the type of young pitcher's body that a scout looks for at a long and lean 6-4/175. He worked steadily in the 87-89 mph range with his fastball and showed some ability to both spin a deep low 70's curveball and locate a change up.
