Zack Zavala is a 2022 C/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Marble Falls, TX who attends Marble Falls. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary catcher, began with a high set behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front and does a nice job of staying compact with actions, gets tall at release and can continue to implement additional lower half into mechanics, does gain ground, short arm action and works on top of the ball well with accuracy to second base, projects nicely with added strength. Stayed low through the ball with actions in the infield, worked to a higher slot on throws across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Coils front leg at start of swing, upper body dominant swing and incorporates hands well into swing. Occasionally gets to front side early, shows a linear swing path through the zone with present feel for the barrel, contact oriented approach. Works the middle of ht field and shows an easy swing with a sound approach. Very good student.
