Jose Salas is a 2021 SS with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from Caracas, DF. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, high waist with a lean and projectable build, plenty of room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.16 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows bounce to actions as well as fluidity, moves well on feet and works through the ball, fields out front with soft hands, short and quick arm action through the back side, nice carry on throws across, made nice barehanded play charging in on slow roller with balance. Switch-hitter, swing is slight more advanced from the right side at presently begins with an upright stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Stays short to the ball with a linear swing path, simple gliding trigger, utilizes a contact approach and works the middle of the field with a simple swing, projects with added strength. Similar gliding trigger from left side, shows quickness to hands and flashed occasional leverage out front. Named to 14U National Showcase Top Prospect List.
