Antonio Knowles is a 2018 RHP/MIF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Key West, FL who attends Key West HS. Slender square shouldered build. Converted former primary middle infielder, showed surprisingly good mechanics for his experience level. Very simple base delivery he repeats well, easy leg lift and good direction to release, arm is deep in back and loose and fast coming through from a high 3/4's arm slot. Upper 80's fastball with good downhill angle, hides the ball well behind his body and it gets on hitters quickly, mostly straight. Curveball has tight spin and sharp biting action with good velocity, will lower his release slot at times and tip off the pitch. Surprisingly good change up with full arm speed he can use more often. Threw strikes with all three pitches and struck out 8 hitters in 3 innings. Right handed hitter, has a short and compact swing with some hand quickness, makes solid contact to all fields, high average approach. Very interesting to see how he throws during the spring when fully stretched out and with more repetitions. Good student.
