Johnny Ray is a 2017 OF with a 6-2 182 lb. frame from Quincy, IL who attends Quincy Notre Dame HS. Tall slender athletic build, lots of strength potential at his age, projects well. 7.34 runner, moves to the ball well in the outfield, loose easy arm with very good arm strength for his age, can improve footwork for even more arm strength, right field tools. Right handed hitter, limited stride but moves his hips into contact well, short swing with some hand quickness, will get to his front side early at times, flashes some strength at contact. Also pitched, compact arm action with an over the top arm slot, good extension out front, some energy at release. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 82 mph, gets good run and sink at times. Change also has nice sinking action. Curveball has some spin and tight 11/5 break to it. Potential two-way prospect as a pitcher. Good student.
