Riley Davis is a 2017 RHP/IF with a 6-3 188 lb. frame from Helena, AL who attends Helena HS. Large frame, broad shoulders with present strength, still has room to fill out. Compact, efficient delivery and mechanics, high leg raise with small hip turn at apex. Stays short on the backside, works to a lower 3/4's arm slot. Fastball up to 85 mph, has darting armside run, will show heavy life when down in the zone. Flashed feel for sweeping slider, will show some tight rotation at times. Keeps the ball in the bottom half of the strike zone well, could incorporate lower-half more a bit more, but repeats well and provides hitters with a difficult look. Also worked out in the infield, developing actions, could get a bit lower in fielding position. Makes all of the routine plays, accurate throws across the diamond with a quick release. Right handed hitter, wide base with solid hands. Keeps weight back and showed ability to turn on the inside pitch and get extended. Excellent student.
