Haviland is an "04" RHP/MIF who can play. At 6'1/175 he has a nice lean athletic body with lots of projection. The only draw back to his game is his running ability. He's a good baserunner, but needs to improve his 60 yd time. That's the only negative because this kid is a player. Strong arm, outstanding hands, good hitter, smart player, etc. He made a great play in the hole showing off his arm from SS. He showed excellent bat speed with a nice LH swing and knows what he's doing. On the mound he really stood out. His fastball stayed mid 80s topping at 86 mph and it was obvious there's more there. He got plus bite on a good low 70s breaking ball. He also showed a 75 mph change up that looked good. He pretty much struck everyone out. He has a nice long loose arm action. He can play and he can pitch at a very high level. Shawn is an excellent student 3.7 with a 1290 SAT.
